Gender Related Academic Research
Dr. Pasterski holds a research post in the Department of Paediatrics, Addenbrooke's Hospital, University of Cambridge. In collaboration with others, she conducts studies assessing the influences of prenatal hormones on gender development and the effects of clinical disclosure of medical information in healthy children and in children with DSD (disorders of sex development). Previous findings from these studies have been published in scientific journals such as Psychoneuroendocrinology, Hormones and Behavior, and Child Development. Dr. Pasterski also collaborates in research with the Transhealth Gender Clinic in London. Currently she is directing the Transition Study, which explores the delays to transition for transgendered individuals. The overall aim of the study is to better understand barriers to gender change so that new protocols may be developed to facilitate healthy psychological and psychosexual outcomes.
